Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Light) Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 at City College Plymouth

Course description

In your first job, you will want to prove that you have the practical craftsmanship and technical know-how to make a great career in the industry. Our apprenticeship course will teach you how to maintain and repair vehicles of all types and decide on best repair techniques. You will be a competent, capable craftsmanship and make a valuable contribution to the business. 

Course content

Apprenticeships are for learners employed as an Apprentice by a local company. Funding is guaranteed by the Government for the training, with priority being given to learners starting age 16 - 18 years.
We can assist with matching learners to employers.
The course contents will include:-

NVQ: vehicle maintenance and repair level 2
routes available light vehicle, heavy vehicle and auto-electrical
(heavy vehicle and auto electrical - block release)

Functional Skills: application of number level 1
communication level 1
ICT level 1

Technical Certificate: Level 2 Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

ERR: Employers Responsibilities and Rights(ERR).

PLTS- Personnel Learning and Thinking Skills. Independent enquiry,creative thinking,Reflective learning,Team Working Self Management and Effective participation.


Entry requirements

Entry is via an initial assessment at the Work-based Learning Department, and a vocational assessment undertaken at City College Plymouth. 


The programme involves continuous assessment of practical skills both on and off the job.
