Chemistry A-Level at Campion School

Course description

AS course content

During the course students will look at the relationship between atomic structure, chemical reactivity and patterns in the Periodic Table. This leads on to an introduction to organic chemistry, including pollution and global warming, and the social and economic aspects of transition metals extraction.

A2 course content

The A2 course provides an opportunity for practical investigations to explore thermodynamics, transition metals, organic chemistry and their applications in industry and medicine.

Entry requirements

A grade B or above in Core and Additional Science or a grade B in GCSE Chemistry.

Assessment

This course is one of the new LINEAR A levels. All examinations will take place at the end of the course. The AS qualification is completely separate. A separate Practical Endorsement will be awarded to A level candidates who can demonstrate competency in the laboratory.
