BTEC National in Drama and Theatre Studies Level 3 at The National CofE Academy

Course description

Drama in Year 12&13 (taught at Holgate Academy)

  • Students are studying The BTEC National Award Drama and theatre studies which has been created to enable students to learn transferable skills that are relevant and needed in future study in the industry of performing arts. The course is assessed and graded Students receive a Pass, Merit or Distinction Grade at the end of each Unit.
  • The course covers core units of Rehearsing in year 12 and Performing in year 13 and specialist units which currently include Clowning, Theatre for Children and Devising. Students perform to a variety of audiences and evaluate each piece through an actor’s log.

The core Performance Unit in Year 13 completes the course in a performance of a full play to a paying audience. The BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Acting) is taught mostly through practical work, which is assessed and graded both internally and externally.
