OCR Level 2 Diploma in Sport at Kingston College

Course description

The OCR Level 2 Diploma in Sport is a one year programme which deals with the scientific themes and concepts of sport. The course aims to provide studies in sport which are directly related to the changing needs of employers in specific areas of the sport and recreation industry. Students can retake English or Maths at GCSE alongside this course if needed. The course may lead to a higher qualification in sport or progression directly into the industry. Most students progress onto the BTEC L3 Sport or Sport and Exercise Science.

Course content

The course provides studies in sport related to the changing needs of employers in the sport industry. The course may lead to a higher qualification or progression into industry. Units studied may include Practical Sport, Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Testing, Nutrition, Sport Psychology. Work experience will be undertaken as will GCSE English and Mathematics if a grade C/4 has not been achieved.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs, one at grade C/4 in either English or Mathematics and three at grade D/3. Level 1 Diploma in a sport related subject.

Future opportunities

BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science or Sport (subject to meeting the entry criteria). Employment in assistant coaching, or the exercise and fitness industry.

    • The site at Kingston Hall Road is the College's main site and houses the Student Registry and Welfare departments as well as Deli KC and the ACT Theatre.  The Arena Sports facility and Arena Hair and Beauty are both attached to this building, which also houses the central administration facility for the College.
