Performing Arts Level 2 - UAL Diploma at Exeter College
This course is regarded by the examining body as 'a specialist qualification which focuses on particular aspects of employment within the sector. The Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts supplies the knowledge and occupational expertise to seek employment in the performing arts industry at an introductory level'.
The course requires a high level of commitment. You will be expected to work outside class time on your assignments, including evenings and some weekends. Attendance at live performances is also essential. A high level of attendance is also essential in a practical course, in which you have to work in small groups and are responsible to each other in order to prepare and deliver work.
You will study on your own, in small groups, and as a whole group.
This course does not involve formal exams, all assessment is carried out as course work both practical and written. There is a continuous assignment assessment process, involving practical and written work. Grades awarded for each assignment go towards a final grade for each unit. Singing, dancing and acting are compulsory.
You need four GCSEs at Grade D and a very keen interest in performing arts. You will be required to participate in an all day workshop as part of the selection process.

You will need to have workshop clothing (black t-shirt and leggings/ tracksuit bottoms), for practical work. We charge an annual, non refundable £60 course administration fee. This will cover all compulsory theatre visits, workshops and venue hire.
You could go on to the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts or A-level Dance or Drama and Theatre Arts courses. You could also take up employment in the arts, entertainment and leisure industries.
