Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF) Level 2 Diploma at Buxton & Leek College
If you’re working in health or social care, this work based qualification is ideal for you. You’ll develop the knowledge and skills to help you in your role. It’s a flexible course with lots of support from your tutor, classroom based or on a one to one basis.
Before you start this course, you’ll need to be already working in health or social care, in a job that gives you a wide range of experience and opportunities to work both on your own and as part of a team.
You’ll build up a portfolio of evidence with the help of your tutor and you’ll be assessed throughout the course in your workplace in several ways, including direct observations, professional discussions and witness testimony. You may also be able to use experience you’ve already built up, as evidence.
There are three course pathways candidates can choose:
• General adult pathway
• Learning disability pathway
Unit 1: Introduction to Communication in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
Unit 2: Introduction to Personal Development in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
Unit 3: Introduction to Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
Unit 4: Introduction to Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
Unit 5: Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care
Unit 6: The Role of the Health and Social Care Worker
Unit 7: Implement Person-Centred Approaches in Health and Social Care
Unit 8: Contribute to Health and Safety in Health and Social Care
Unit 9: Handle Information in Health and Social Care Settings
You'll need to already be working in an appropriate health care setting either paid or voluntary sector.
You could apply for more senior care roles with responsibility for planning care. Or if you want to carry on studying, you could move on to a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
