Golf Academy Diploma Level 3 at Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMET)

Course description

If you’re a keen golfer you can study for a sports qualification, whilst continuing to play golf at Stourbridge College’s Golf Academy. You will study in our Centre of Sporting Excellence. You will also have the opportunity to have 3 hours of professional golf tuition each week as well as fitness sessions and a free membership at Hagley Golf and Country Club. The Golf Academy combines the opportunity to develop your golfing skills and techniques as well as achieving a recognised sports qualification. To study at the Golf Academy you will need to apply on line and you will also need to take part in a golf assessment session as part of your application process.

If you enjoy playing or watching sport, and you’re looking to improve your performance, or want to make a career in sport, then this course is for you. This course will introduce you to a side of the sports industry you may not have experienced before giving you an insight into the little things that make a big performance such as nutrition, psychology, fitness testing, injuries and sponsorship and promotion. You will study topics like fitness testing, practical sports performance and anatomy.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry qualifications. However you must have a strong interest in sport and show this at interview.

Assessment

You will be assessed through coursework that will involve presentations, posters, reports and training plans. Two units are assessed externally by the exam board through an online test, don’t worry we will prepare you for the test through the use of mock tests and revision classes.

Future opportunities

You can progress on to a Level 2 course in a similar subject area or some go on and study new subjects. Career options include sports coaching, sports therapy, leisure management, personal training and gym instructing.
