Engineering - Level 2 Apprenticeship at Buxton & Leek College
Through your Apprenticeship you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to learn whilst getting paid to do so! With a mix of on the job and college training you’ll learn engineering theory and practical skills that will equip you well for an exciting career in the engineering sector. This course is designed for learners aged 16-19.
Engineering Apprentices can work in a variety of disciplines from maintenance & machining, to design and computer aided manufacture. During your Apprenticeship, you’ll learn functional skills, computer aided design and practical machining skills that will supplement your workplace experience.

Buxton & Leek College have recently built a new engineering department equipped with the latest Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) equipment, machine tools and scientific testing equipment. Students who attend Buxton & Leek College will receive licenses to professional standard computer aided design software so that they can further develop their skills and work on their own projects.
In addition to the extensive enrichment & sport activities offered by the college, Engineering students are invited to participate in a 3D Printing challenge where they design, build and race their own 1:12th scale radio controlled car.
GCSE Maths and English Language at grade D or above and have completed the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering. You should also have an employer.
You’ll be assessed in the workplace through a portfolio of evidence. In College, students are assessed via coursework, practical assessments and online testing.
Students who succeed on this pathway are eligible to pursue Level 3 courses which can lead to the HNC Engineeering pathway and University level courses.
