Fitness Instructing and Personal Training Diploma (Level 2/3) at South & City College Birmingham

Course description

This one year course is aimed at learners wishing to enter the sports and leisure as a personal trainer but do not hold a level 2 gym instructing qualification.The initial aim of the qualification is to train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club environment. The qualification progresses competency with the aim of developing learners' existing knowledge and skills in gym instruction who would like to pursue a career in personal training.We have fantastic gym facility with 65 stations and the opportunity to be part of the internship programme to gain work experience while you train making you more employable.

Entry requirements

Experience of gym-based exercises including free weights resistance machines and cardiovascular equipment is highly recommended.The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore a degree of physical fitness is necessary.3 GCSE Grade 3 (D) including English and ScienceInterview

Future opportunities

Following successful completion of the Diploma in Fitness Instructing and Personal Training, you will be able to apply for work as a fitness instructor or set up a business in personal training. You will have the foundations for specialising in nutrition, exercise classes such as ETM, Spin, Kettle bells etc or you could progress onto the new Access to HE in Sport Science in order to lead onto the Foundation Degree in Sport.
