Geography AS/A2 Level at Chichester High School for Girls

Course description

Human and physical geography are studied with twocompulsory subjects of rivers, flood management andpopulation change, along with selection of optional subjectswhich include cold environments, coastal environments, hotdesert environments, food supply issues, energy issues andhealth issues. There will also be geographic investigativework and fieldwork,which includes a residential trip toNettlecombe (approx. cost £275) and a day trip to theJurassic coast.

Students who continue to A2 will step up to topics includingplate tectonics and associated hazards,weather and climateand associated hazards, ecosystems: change and challenge,world cities, development and globalisation, contemporaryconflicts and challenges. There will be more fieldworkopportunities which may include the option of foreign travel.

AS Unit 1:Physical/Human Geography

AS Unit 2:Research skills and fieldwork

A2 Unit 3: Contemporary Geographical issues

A2 Unit 4:Fieldwork or Geographical issues


Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above with a grade B in Geography.
