Plumbing Intermediate Apprenticeship at Warrington & Vale Royal College

Course description

This Apprenticeship is ideally suited to learners who have completed the Level 1 Basic Diploma in Building Services and have gained employment, or new Apprentices employed within the plumbing industry. The Level 2 qualification will help you develop the skills required of the modern day plumber.

Course content

Learners must achieve a range of units such as safe working practices, apply scientific principles, carry out site preparation and pipework fabrication techniques, apply domestic hot & cold water system installation and maintenance techniques, apply domestic central heating system installation and maintenance techniques, plus others.


Practical units are assessed by compiling a portfolio of set tasks which are checked by our qualified assessors/tutors.  Knowledge units are assessed by 10-12 on-line examinations.  Work based units are assessed onsite by assessors.

    • By Rail: Anyone travelling by train should disembark at Central Station in Warrington. Our Winwick Road Campus is around a 20 minute walk along the A49 (you will pass the Warrington Wolves RLFC stadium and the Tesco supermarket on your left).

      By Bus: Warrington & Vale Royal College is easily accessible by bus from the town centre and nearby Cheshire districts. Bus numbers* 19, 20, 21, 22 from the Warrington Bus Station to Winwick Road Campus.
