Law 'AS' & 'A2' at Temple Moor High School
'When everyman lives without Law, everyman lives without freedom.’ Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI)
Why do we have Laws? What is their purpose? How are they made? Law will provide you with the opportunity to learn all about the legal system and how it operates; how laws are made and the elements behind a criminal act.
You will also consider the philosophy that underpins crime and punishment in a modern society. Particular emphasis is placed on case law and precedent’s that are set by the justice system and how this is applied in a court of law. We will also study the impact of law on Human Rights issues in the UK. As well as this we will develop your skills of analysis, discussion and debate through the study of a variety of controversial issues.
