English Language & Literature at Maltby Academy

Course description

By studying English Language and Literature it allows you to develop literary and linguistic analysis, enabking you to become a critical and independent reader. Over the two years you will learn how to develop personal responses to literary and non-literary texts and you will develop a love of both English Literature and English Language.

Entry requirements

A rabge of 5 GCSE's at Cgrade or above, which must include grade 5 in both English Language and English Literature

 

 

Assessment

The course consists of two written examinations (80%) and one courswork folder (20%)

It can lead to a huge and diverse variety of Higher Education courses and careers, from law or teaching to speech therapy or journalism. All employers will value an English Language A level as it demonstrates secure writing skills and the ability to think imaginatively and creatively.
