Electronics at Dereham Sixth Form College

Course description

We live in the age of electronic technology encompassing household ‘gadgets’ to space travel. This one or two year course enables students to understand how electronic devices work, and perhaps more importantly, the art of electronic design.
Students study Electronics at Dereham for many reasons and it makes a particularly good combination with subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Technology. However, many students study this course to try something different. Dereham Sixth form College is one of only a few
‘school based sixth forms’ that offer Electronics at AS and A2 level in Norfolk. It is a proud tradition that has been in existence since 1985. We always achieve
excellent examination success with many students going on to study electronics at university.

We follow the WJEC Electronics specification. A course that is well structured and provides a good mix of practical and theoretical tuition.

In Year 12 the course is divided into three modules
1. An Introduction to Digital and Analogue Systems
2. Circuits and Components
3. Control Systems

In Year 13 the course is divided into a further three
modules called:
1. Communication Systems
2. System Applications
3. System Design

Entry requirements
