Hospitality - Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Bedlingtonshire Community High School
The BTEC qualification offers students a practical based, industry relevant qualification. Students will be given the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and knowledge relevant to the hospitality industry. There are a wide variety of units which can be studied. The three Core units are:
- The Hospitality Industry
- Principles in supervising customer service
- Providing customer service in hospitality
The variety of optional units enables students to focus upon a particular aspect of the course or a personal strength. The units include:-
- Contemporary World food
- European Food
- Planning and Managing a hospitality event
Students have enjoyed the benefits of visiting a variety of hospitality venues and events such as the Doxford Hall Hotel. Students also planned and managed a buffet for 100 outside guests!
Students must be willing and prepared to plan, manage and evaluate practical activities. There is an expectation that students will work with a variety of real businesses in order to develop skills such as: Communication / Team Work / Problem Solving / Customer Relations / Food preparation skills.
