Design and Technology: Product Design A Level at Lawnswood School

Course description

Students will work with a range of materials which could include resistant and compliant materials to develop their knowledge and practical skills. Students will be required to submit a design portfolio, manufacture a 3D outcome and sit an external exam. A range of topic will be covered which include environmental sustainability of products, consumer safety, processes and procedures of commercial production and manufacture.

Course content

Unit 1: (PROD1) Materials, Components and Application

Unit 2: (PROD2) Learning through Designing and Making (Can work with wood, metal, plastic, Textiles, Card,)

Unit 3: (PROD3) Design and Manufacture

Unit 4: (PROD4) Design and Making Practice

Financial information

Students will be required to purchase a hard back sketch book from school for £3.70 and purchase their own A3 folder, colouring pencils and marker pens.

Course offered at Lawnswood School help students to become confident designers and allow students to carry on studying an element of Design and Technology at University.
