Design and Technology: Product Design A Level at Lawnswood School
Students will work with a range of materials which could include resistant and compliant materials to develop their knowledge and practical skills. Students will be required to submit a design portfolio, manufacture a 3D outcome and sit an external exam. A range of topic will be covered which include environmental sustainability of products, consumer safety, processes and procedures of commercial production and manufacture.
Unit 1: (PROD1) Materials, Components and Application
Unit 2: (PROD2) Learning through Designing and Making (Can work with wood, metal, plastic, Textiles, Card,)
Unit 3: (PROD3) Design and Manufacture
Unit 4: (PROD4) Design and Making Practice
Students will be required to purchase a hard back sketch book from school for £3.70 and purchase their own A3 folder, colouring pencils and marker pens.
Course offered at Lawnswood School help students to become confident designers and allow students to carry on studying an element of Design and Technology at University. Careers often chosen by students range from Product Design, Graphic Design, Automotive Design, Automotive Engineering, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, and Architecture.
