Government and Politics A - AS Level at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College

Course description

This A Level is for students who are mainly interested in current affairs and wish to gain a better understanding of the world and the way in which it affects people's lives. It provides them with a balanced and stimulating introduction to politics by examining each fundamental liberty to ascertain what the law and practice have to say about their content. On completion, students will know what freedoms they have to organise meetings, the exercise of powers over citizens by ministers, the electoral system, voting behaviour, and the operation of representative democracy. As nothing is right or wrong in politics, it is an ideal basis for encouraging independent and critical thinking.
