Public Services (Uniformed) Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College

Course description

This is a one year full-time course for anyone interested in pursuing a career in the uniformed services such as the Police, Fire, Ambulance, Prison/Probation Services, Army, Navy and Air Force, or wishing to progress to higher education. It is equivalent to one A Level.

Course content

Students on this course will study five units: Government, Policies and the Public Services; Leadership and Teamwork; Citizenship and Diversity; Understanding Discipline in the Public Services; Fitness Testing and Training. Your study programme will be a combination of classroom-based learning, with practical sessions and residential trips.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above including one from English, Maths or Double Science or Level 2 qualification in Public Services.

Assessment

This course is made up of a combination of practical and theoretical study with continuous assessment, written assignments and evidence gained from residential trips and the comprehensive programme of visiting speakers from the Public Services.

We offer a bursary that students can apply for help with costs that are associated with a course. This could be help with the cost of travel, books, materials, equipment, uniforms, childcare and examination and registration fees. Future opportunities

The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification designed to give you a good understanding of the working practices of all the Public Services. You can either seek employment or progress onto a BTEC Level 3 Diploma (Subject to meeting relevant progression criteria).
