BTEC Extended Diploma Art and Design - Graphic Design and Interactive Media Pathway - Level 3 at Burton and South Derbyshire College

Course description

The pathway in Graphic Design and Interactive Media will give students a thorough introduction to graphic design, digital art and design practices. This includes typography, branding, motion graphics, web design and illustration. On completion students will have a portfolio or showreel, digital artwork and a printed portfolio. They will also have skills in interactive media design and development. This will enable all students to continue their studies in Higher Education or to gain employment in the Art, Design and Interactive Media Industry. This Level 3 qualification is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

Entry requirements

• Minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or better (of which one subject may be specified at grade C) including either English Language or Maths at GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent)*; or • Pass at NVQ Level 2 and either English Language or Maths at GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent); or • Pass at BTEC Diploma and either English Language or Maths at GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent). The College has the discretion to determine if 4 or 5 GCSE’s will be the entry standards for a Qualification. Applicants for Visual Arts qualifications must show evidence of a portfolio of work to an acceptable standard at interview.
