Animal Care Level 2 Diploma (NPTC) at Highbury College

Course description

If you wish to further develop your skills in Animal Care and gain valuable work experience then this is the programme for you.

Course content

You will complete the following units:

  • Maintain Animal Health and Welfare
  • Undertake Practical Animal Feeding
  • Maintain Animal Accommodation
  • Undertake Work Related Experience
  • Understand the Basic Principles of Animal Biology
  • Understand Animal Behaviour
  • Introduction to Caring for Zoo Animals

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at grade A*-D including English and Maths or a full Level 1 qualification, at merit grade, with literacy and numeracy at the appropriate level. Evidence of previous work experience would be useful and a willingness to work in the industry and the ability to succeed are very important.

Assessment

  • You will need four GCSEs at grade A*-D including English and Maths or a full Level 1 qualification, at merit grade, with literacy and numeracy at the appropriate level.

  • Subject to interview and assessment.

Future opportunities

The majority of students who complete the programme either gain employment or go on to study at Level 3.
