Course description

This programme is designed to meet the standards set by the industry in order to be a carer. The Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care consists of the following components: Health and Social Care - NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care - Certificate Level 2 Communication - Key Skills Level 1 Application of Number - Key Skills Level 1 What is an apprenticeship? An apprenticeship allows you to combine paid employment while spending time learning as well. It is made up of different components, each one assessed in different ways:- A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) which is assessed in the workplace; a technical certificate which is delivered through a series of off the job workshops and Key Skills for those learners who do not already have the GCSEs at the relevant level, Key Skills will be completed either in a group situation or on a one to one basis.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required but individuals should be enthusiatic motivated reliable and willing to work hard. Good communication skills are essential and it is important to be understanding and show respect for others. Individuals will complete a basic skills assessment test and those who display results at entry 2 or below will be provided with IAG supporting their needs and referral to the skills for life team.
