You will need a good standard of education, including numeracy and literacy, preferably with GCSE grade C in English and Mathematics (or have an NVQ Level 2 in a related subject).
The current Health and Social Care Framework is:
Competence Based Element
- Diploma in Health and Social Care (Level 3).
Knowledge Based Element (depending on Pathway)
- Certificate in Preparing to work in Adult Social Care (Level 3).
- Award in Employment Responsibilities & Rights in Health, Social Care & Young People’s Settings
- Personal Learning & Thinking Skills
The choice of Competence based and knowledge elements will be discussed in partnership with you, the employer and your tutor taking into consideration your skills, experiences and workplace.
Learners will need to be employed for the duration of the Apprenticeship. This framework has been designed to enable you and your employer to work together on the delivery of an individual training programme, which will ensure that the relevant occupational and industry specific skills are acquired.
You will be required to have a Contract of Employment minimum of 30 hours a week.
Most of our apprentices continue to be employed at the end of the apprenticeship. There are good opportunities for selfemployment or perhaps progression to a higher level apprenticeship.
