Engineering BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Knowsley Community College

Course description

The programme has been developed for those who are intending to follow a career in mechanical, manufacturing or electrical engineering and wish to follow an alternative route to that of A Levels. Although the programme is vocationally orientated towards engineering, it will not prevent anyone from selecting other career routes at a later stage. The programme is largely academic but it contains significant practical elements.

  • Electrical and Electronic Principles
  • Engineering Design
  • Computer Aided Drafting in Engineering
  • Mathematics for Engineering Technicians

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs grade C or above in appropriate subjects or equivalent (e.g. First Diploma at Merit or Distinction), including English or Higher Diploma Grade A*.

Financial information

You will be required to bring a pen, paper, A4 ring binder, scientific calculation and any additional equipment required by your tutor

Future opportunities

At the end of your first year you will have completed a substantial number of units towards your two year programme, which will also provide you with a qualification that is recognised by employers and will carry UCAS points towards HE progression. You will build on these units with further learning in a second year of study at the college.
