English Literature AS/A2 at Ilford County High School

Course description

The course aims to allow students to develop a broader and deeper understanding of English Literature and allow them to develop higher English Literature skills.

Students will study: Dramatic comedy (e.g. Twelfth Night and The Importance of Being Earnest)

Prose texts exploring colonisation and its aftermath (e.g. Heart of Darkness and A Passage to India)

Comparison texts for coursework (e.g. Literary Reportage: Dispatches, Michael Kerr and Homage to Catalonia, George Orwell)

Poetry (e.g. Christina Rossetti and T.S. Eliot)

Entry requirements

GCSE grade B in English Literature.
