Course description

The Combined Language & Literature course is great for anyone who enjoys studying literature but who also enjoys producing their own writing and studying non-fiction texts. On this course, not only will you get to read some of the most amazing literature ever produced, but you will also develop your ability to write your own texts. You will read novels, poetry and drama texts as well as exploring how people use speech in a range of situations and studying some of the most amazing speeches ever delivered.

Course content

You’ll study texts such as ‘The Kite Runner’, ‘Wuthering Heights’ and ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’, ‘Othello’ and ‘Great Expectations’. You’ll also explore journalism and other types of non-fiction writing. So this course combines the best elements of both reading great literature and producing your own writing. This course is ideal for budding journalists or anyone who wants to study English to a higher level.

Entry requirements

Minimum requirement to Study Combined English Language and Literature is grade B at GCSE in both English Language and English Literature.
