Economics A level at Burnside Business and Enterprise College

Course description

The Business & Enterprise department are a dynamic and diverse team of Business and Economics specialists. The team comprises of 7 committed and dedicated members of staff, each of whom has a passion for business and enterprise, inspiring students, raising aspirations alongside raising standards. Lessons are taught in 5 main teaching rooms all equipped with interactive white boards and each room has access to at least 15 computers or 20 laptops.

Developing the magnificent 7 skills alongside the development of business, enterprise and economics knowledge is a key driver within the department. All lessons have a knowledge and a skill development focus.

A level Economics was introduced in 2012, Economic specialists and staff with Business Retail experience deliver this course.  One of the main strengths to support the course taught is the work experience outside of teaching the staff bring to the course, and the excellent Business links established.

Entry requirements

The general entry requirement is 5 A* - C full GCSE/BTEC courses, including English Language and Mathematics at grade C or higher.  

BTEC qualifications will only count as 1 GCSE. If more than 1 BTEC (level 2) is studied, only the best will count towards the overall points score.  GCSE short courses will not be counted.
