Health and Social Care BTEC First Extended Certificate Level 2 at Bracknell and Wokingham College

Course description

This is a work-related course aimed at students who are looking to work in the health and social care sector. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will also sit one externally assessed exam. Core units include: • Communication • Individual needs • Ensuring safe environments • Human lifespan development • The impact of diet on health You will undertake four block work placements to gain experience in health and social care settings

Entry requirements

• F our GCSEs to include at least one grade D and 3 E grades. English language GCSE preferably grade D. If you do not have a grade C in GCSE English Language and maths you will be required to be working towards achieving this alongside your course • Any vocational qualifications being used as part of the entry requirements must be achieved at Merit level or higher • Positive references will be required • A positive Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this course. You will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check at the start of the course

• Further education - more advanced courses such as the BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care with a Distinction • Employment
