Course description

This is a craft based route to a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering apprenticeship at Level 3. The Framework consists of: - Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering - Level 3 Diploma in Engineering - Personal Learning and Thinking Skills - Employers Rights and Responsibilities - Functional Skills at Level 2 in English, Maths and ICT (if apprentice does not already hold an equivalent)

Course content

This framework will suit a person who is employed in a craft based role within the mechanical engineering industry and has already completed the Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations qualifications.

Entry requirements

Employed in a suitable role and pass the English and Maths diagnostic Level 2 assessment with 50% or more.


The theory part of the qualification is assessed through a series of tests while at college. The workplace qualification is assessed through a portfolio of evidence which is built in the workplace. The functional skills are assessed through exams.
