Advanced Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care at North Shropshire College - NSC

Course description

You will spend four days per week working in industry in a social care, care or health setting with a recognised local employer. This hands on training will develop important skills such as working with others, communication, and initiative whilst enhancing knowledge and your practical ability to work with care clients. One day per week will be spent at College where learning will be varied and creative. You will be continually assessed at both College and in the workplace. You will also need to produce a portfolio of evidence.

The apprenticeship is made up of several qualifications:

  • Level 3 in Health and Social Care
  • Technical Certificate
  • Functional Skills
  • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills
  • Employment Rights & Responsibilities.

Entry requirements

Minimum GCSE Grade D in English and Maths or equivalent, and a Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

You must be motivated to work in a social care setting.

You may enter full time education on an appropriate undergraduate degree course for social work.  Alternatively, job opportunities could include working as a care worker under supervision.
