Course content

CONTENT - Advanced Level

The Advanced Level builds on the three modules studied in the AS. These are, Materials and Components, Design and Market Influences and Processes and Manufacture.

Entry requirements

Advanced Level

  • In order to progress onto Advanced Level courses you must achieve at least a D grade at AS Level in three subjects (excluding General Studies)

Assessment

ASSESSMENT

Unit 3: Written paper based on Design and Manufacture 2 hours - 25% of total A level

Unit 4: Design and Making Practice - Coursework - a single project - 60 hours - 25% of total

WHAT CAN I DO WITH PRODUCT DESIGN-TEXTILES?

This course provides an excellent basis for progression to more advanced courses in Higher Education including Textile Management, Textile Science, Fashion and Textile Design etc. It also provides a platform for a wide range of careers in industry and commerce. Students will realise an increased sensitivity to the wider effects of their work on society and the environment as a result of undertaking this course.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START THE COURSE?

Students will find it helpful if they have studied Textiles Technology at GCSE and achieved at least a B grade.
