Art, Design & Photography BTEC 90 Credit Diploma/BTEC Extended Diploma at Great Yarmouth College

Course description

Focus your creativity. This course is designed for students who wish to specialise in fine art, graphic design and/or photography. The course is exciting and challenging and designed to provide for the many career and higher education opportunities that exist within art, graphic design and photography.

Course content

In the first year you will explore a broad range of art and design topics including 3D design, drawing, painting, film/animation, computer aided design, graphic design, photography and printmaking. In the second year you will select a specialist pathway which is linked to your intended career or university course of your choice.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grades A*- C ideally including Art and English, plus a portfolio of varied art, design, photography and/or textile work.

Or you will have completed the BTEC/OCR Level 2 in Art & Design at merit grade, also Level 1 Functional Skills in English and Maths, plus a portfolio of varied art, design, photography and/or textile work.


Work is project based and presented in sketchbooks and a portfolio which is showcased in an end-of-year exhibition. Students are assessed and supported throughout the two year course with regular reviews, formative and final assessment on each of the 18 units gaining a PASS, MERIT or DISTINCTION.

Future opportunities

Study a foundation degree here at UCS Great Yarmouth or go into employment or self-employment.
