Occupational Studies for Public Services Entry Level 3 at Blackburn College

Course description

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who would like a career working in public services; you will gain voluntary work experience and study units to help you make your career choice.

You will gain a qualification in occupational studies; this will develop your employability skills and complement your vocational learning.

Course content

This is a one year full time study programme where you will study:-

  • Entry Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Studies for the Workplace
  • English and Maths*
  • Vocational Units

During the programme you will undertake volunteering and enrichment activities.

Entry requirements

To study this course you should possess the following:-

        A positive reference from school

        A genuine desire to work with people

        A positive attitude towards study

Assessment

You will complete a portfolio of evidence; this will be internally and externally verified.

Vocational assignments will be completed in the classroom and at home.

You will complete exams in English and Maths

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the study programme you may be given the opportunity to progress onto a level 1 qualification in Public Services (Uniformed or Non Uniformed). This is subject to achieving the relevant English and Maths qualifications.
