History AS at St Paul's Catholic School for Girls

Course description

A level History is a fascinating, challenging and enjoyable subject.  It will enable students to develop important skills that will be useful throughout life and in their career of choice.  History supports students in learning how to express their own opinions, think independently, structure arguments and understand and evaluate the news of others.

Course content

Unit 1H – Tsarist Russia, 1855 – 1917

Unit 2M – Life in Nazi Germany, 1933 – 1945

Entry requirements

Six GCSE Grade B,s

Preferably a grade B in English language and a grade B in History.

Assessment

AS    1 x 1 hour 15 minute paper – 50% of AS (1H)

         1 x 1 hour 30 minute paper  – 50% 0f AS (1M)
