Fine Art A Level at New Mills School and Sixth Form
Course description
In the New Mills Sixth Form Art Department we teach a rigorous and incredibly ambitious fine art A-Level course that prepares students for entry to outstanding universities such as Wimbledon or The Chelsea School of Art.
Art is a subject that it is vital to feel passionate about. This passion will allow you to grasp every opportunity in class; to use free periods in the studio, to attend artist led workshops and to make the most of team-teaching opportunities with the lower school.
The course establishes a clear focus at the outset; to enable every student to work ambitiously, confidently and on large scale with a broad range of materials. The annual class trips to a range of Art Galleries in London and to the Manchester University
Degree Shows underpins the importance of both traditional and contemporary art practice and your own place within that rich tradition.
Course content
All students work ambitiously in sketchbooks in both lessons and homework and have always enjoyed the variety and challenge provided.
