Introduction to Motor Vehicle Technology IMIAL Entry 3 Diploma at Hertford Regional College
The aim of this course is to give the training and practical skills to enable progression onto the Motor Vehicle IMI Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance Level 1 and will provide experience of the repair and maintenance of all types of modern motor vehicles in a commercial environment.
This is a one-year programme of vehicle theory and practical work. This course has a high level of practical content and aims to provide training in the skills needed to progress to the Motor Vehicle IMI Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance Level 1.
- Have a keen interest in the motor trade
- Have a minimum of 100 GSCE entry points (including a Grade E in both English and Maths)
- Demonstrate literacy skills at Entry Level 3
Technical knowledge is assessed by on-line, multiple-choice tests and written phase tests.
Practical competence is assessed by the production of a portfolio of practical tasks carried out under direct observation in the workshop.
Functional Skills are an integral part of the course and will be assessed during the programme.
Free to those under 19 on 31st August 2016. If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2016, have been a permanent resident in the EU for the last three years, and are a fee paying new entrant you will pay £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). However, fee paying students continuing on the same course for a second year will be charged £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). You will be required to pay an administration fee, exam fees, kit fee, materials fee and an Awarding Body Registration fee if applicable. For these costs please contact our Information Centre.
Successful completion of this course will gain you the Diploma for the Introduction to Motor Vehicle Technology – IMIAL Entry 3 and enable you to progress to the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Award at Level 1.
As a full time student, you will have the chance to take part in additional activities, including sports, alongside your main programme. You will be attending Functional Skills classes in English and Maths – these classes are compulsory.
What will I need?
You must provide boots and overalls. You will be expected to buy a recommended text book.
