Physical Education at Reepham High School and College
Educating the nation about the importance of healthy lifestyles and lifelong participation in sport and exercise is an extremely necessary and essential challenge. Physical inactivity has been identified as the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality (WHO, 2012). There is a national imperative to increase physical activity among the population as demonstrated by the Government’s strategy ‘Be Active, Be Healthy’.
The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games provided a focus to achieving increased levels of physical activity. The benefits of regular participation in physical activity and sport are wide ranging. Many of us are already aware that taking small steps to increase our participation in regular activity can make a huge difference to our health and quality of life.
In addition the activities themselves allow people from different backgrounds to come together in a positive environment which can further enhance our mental and social wellbeing. Physical Education is the course for you if you enjoy a challenge and are passionate about sport and physical activity. It seeks to develop your knowledge, understanding, skills and application for PE and Sport.
