English Language and Literature A Level at Hertswood Academy

Course description

Are you interested in the creation of texts and the impact that these have on our society? Do you enjoy exploring a range of text - types, including spoken, written and multi - modal? Are you interested in the ways in which meani ngs and ideas are conveyed to readers and listeners through our use of language? Choosing to study English Language and Literature at A Level will give you the opportunity to develop a range of writing styles and skills that universities and employers wil l value: re - creative writing, commentary writing, discursive essays, research - based investigative writing, reading critically, analysing, evaluating and researching independently to name a few! These will build on and develop the skills that you have alrea dy started to use in your GCSE, focusing on a higher level and more holistic understanding.

Entry requirements

In order to take A Level English Literature, you must have five 6 - 9s, including at least a 6 in either Literature or Language GCSE and at least a 5 in t he other.
