Travel and Tourism BTEC Level 2 Diploma (Cheadle Campus) at Cheadle & Marple Sixth Form College

Course description

The Travel and Tourism industry is one of the most vibrant and exciting industries in the world. Therefore it follows that those that choose to study this course will have a genuine interest in working within the industry. The course itself covers all aspects of the travel industry from airlines and airports to travel agents, and holiday destinations both in the UK and Europe. The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism is equivalent to 4 GCSEs grades A to C and is taken as a full time course. It is a work related course that gives students a lively and varied introduction to the travel and tourism industry. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based upon realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Course content

Year one You will study a mixture of between 10-12 modular units depending which campus you choose, which includes subjects such as Introduction to the Travel and Tourism Industry, Customer Service, European Holiday Destinations, Preparing for a Study Visit, Marketing and many more.

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at grade D to obtain a place on the course. You should also have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and will be expected to have good ICT skills and understand the importance of meeting deadlines.


There are 10 – 12 units which are entirely coursework based and you will be assessed in a variety of ways.  This will include a combination of written work and practical assessments.

Future opportunities

An overall Merit grade on BTEC Level 2 Diploma Travel and Tourism allows you to progress to BTEC Level 3 in Travel and Tourism or other advanced level vocational or AS level subjects.
