BTEC IT Level 3 DOUBLE Award at St Anselm's Catholic School
Students will have the opportunity to acquire the essential knowledge and tools for the world of work by
developing transferable skills such as planning, research and analysis, working with others and effective
communication. This qualification is offered as a triple award and equates to 3 A Levels (1080 GLH).
To achieve the qualification, students must pass seven mandatory units (below and complete six optional units.
The units taught are:
Year 1: Information Technology Systems, Creating Systems to Manage Information, Using Social Media in Business,
Programming, IT Project Management, Cyber Security and IT Service Deliver
Year 2: Website Development, Cloud Storage and Collaboration Tools, The Internet of Things, Enterprise in IT,
IT Technical Support and Management and Customising and Integrating Application.
You will be assessed through this qualification by producing a number of evidence portfolios. You will also sit four assessments, one of which will be an examination. All four assessments will be externally assessed.
You are expected to:
· Carry out some independent research using the internet and other sources and present this in a
suitable format e.g. computer hardware, IT systems
· Be able to master a wide range of software packages and use them appropriately
· Design of Human Computer Interfaces to provide efficient and accurate data entry and use of
· Design, produce and publish a website of your choice to include multimedia and interactive
· Present evidence of your work in a portfolio
Where can this course take me?
You will have a level of ICT skill that is highly valued by employers. The course provides you with practical knowledge of how ICT systems service the information needs of an organisation and will assist you in your future higher education studies and employment.
