Business BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 at Teignmouth Community School

Course description

The new BTEC Nationals in Business use a combination of assessment styles to give students confidence so that they can apply their knowledge to succeed in the workplace – and have the study skills to continue learning on higher education courses and throughout their career.

Course content

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business is an Applied General qualification. . It is equivalent in size to three A Levels and has been designed as a full two-year programme. Learners who wish to take this qualification will have successfully completed a Level 2 programme of learning with GCSEs or vocational qualifications. The learning programme covers the following content areas: • business environments • finance • marketing • international business • management. Plus optional courses in human resources or accounting

The qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to meeting admission requirements to many relevant courses, for example: • BSc (Hons) in Business and Management • BA (Hons) and BSc(Hons) in Business Studies • BSc (Hons) in International Management. The business courses have been running successfully for 5 years now and we have had excellent results but also a great deal of students who have taken a business degree at university as they have seen the practical application to their lives and enjoyed the subject.

Entry requirements

A GCSE level 5 in Maths and English, you do not have to have studied business previously.

Future opportunities

After this qualification, learners can also progress directly into employment, however it is likely that many will do so via higher study. Areas of employment include junior business roles in marketing, administration, finance, events management, human resources, and other related areas in the business sector, including Higher Apprenticeships The new qualification has been recognised as valuable by Barclays Bank, John Lewis, Peter Jones, and Universities such as Exeter, Birmingham and Manchester and many more.
