Course description
AS Level equivalent A variety of units will be followed including units on Fundamentals of Science, Working in the Science Industry and Scientific Practical Techniques. A2 Level equivalent Students complete a variety of optional units, including Physiology of Human Body Systems, Genetics and Genetic Engineering, Medical Physics Techniques, Astronomy and Perceptions of Science. These are 5 examples of the 24 units of work available. The actual units studied will be decided after completion of the 3 AS mandatory units and will be based on student preference. Assessment All units of work have internally marked assignments. These could be presentations, extended pieces of work, photographic evidence etc. Each unit of work will be assessed at Pass, Merit or Distinction. Additional Information This course is the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Applied Science, which is equivalent to 1 A level. If students only study the AS Work, then they will receive a Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Applied Science, which is equivalent to 1 AS level.
Entry requirements
BTEC First in Science at Merit or Distinction or 5 GCSEs at Grade C or better including Science.
