Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence (VCQ) / Principles (VRQ) Level 2 Diploma (Motor Mechanics) at Doncaster, Rotherham and District Motor Trades GTA Ltd (Doncaster GTA)
The start of a workbased Apprenticeship career that can lead to progression onto Level 3 qualification and into employment as a Light Vehicle Technician. Learning will be by a placement in a local garage and day release at the Training Centre. Practical and theory aspects of servicing, maintenance and repair of cars. Health and safety awareness in motor vehicle repair workshop. Motor vehicle construction and layout of major vehicle systems and components. Routine maintenance of vehicles. Inspection and basic identification of faults. Use of measuring instruments required in vehicle maintenance and fault finding. Removal and refitting of vehicle components and units. Working with groups and as an individual. Responsibility for personal actions taken.
Applicants should expect to obtain or have GCSE's at Grade D or above, in English, Mathematics, Technology and a Science. But more importantly they must want to pursue a career in the vehicle repair industry.
For Apprentices aged 16 - 25 the cost are usually met by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA).
Progression to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship and into employment as a qualified Technician.The course offers you a specialist work-based qualification to support a career in the motoring industry or to progress onto further education to study an VCQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or related subjects such as Roadside Recovery and Repair . With further training, you could continue to develop your career in the motoring industry by working as a trained Mechanic, Breakdown Recovery Assistant or you could go onto working within car manufacturing or car sales. The course is work based which means you can earn and learn at the same time whilst developing the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers in the motoring industry are looking for.
