Musical Theatre Level 3 Diploma/Extended at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College*

Course description

This is a 2 year course which develops your musical theatre skills in singing, dancing and acting and provides opportunities to perform in a variety of productions.

Course content

This course will include:

  • Acting
  • Tap
  • Ballet
  • Jazz Dance
  • Contemporary Dance
  • Drama Improvisation
  • Singing Skills
  • Musicianship
  • Choreography
  • Contextual Studies
  • Collaborative Performance Projects

You will also perform in at least three productions each year including a final production in one of our theatres.

In the first year students will study for the Level 3 Diploma. Successful students then progress into the second year to complete the Extended Diploma.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade A*–C, including English Language. Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting or Dance) at merit level.


Your tutors will closely monitor and guide you through the course to ensure you reach your potential. You will have personal one-to-one tutorials to review progress regularly.

Future opportunities

You will be prepared for higher education courses at drama schools, university or our own Degree in Musical Theatre taught at the WISE Campus.

Learners can progress on to higher level courses, which could lead in to careers in professional theatre, cabaret and teaching.
