German A Level at Berwick Academy

Course description

German is the most widely spoken first language in the European Union. A recent survey by the confederation of British Industry (CBI) revealed that German is the most sought-after foreign language by UK employers. If you enjoyed learning German at GCSE, German could be a good A Level choice for you. 

In A Level German you will have the chance to develop your language skills so that you can write and talk about your ideas on a whole range of issues that are important in German speaking countries such as social trends, politics, multiculturalism and the arts. 

You will study one German film and a work of fiction, Studying a challenging subject like German shows that you are bright, have good communication skills and are interested in other people's cultures. These are all attributes valued by employers and universities.
