Performing Arts BTEC L3 National Extended Certificate (single) at Northfleet School for Girls

Course description

Students will develop their technical
and performance skills in their
chosen performing arts specialisms,
as well as their creative skills
during devising and choreographic
projects. Students will study current
practitioners and their working
methods and techniques, as well as
developing their written analytical
skills.
 
The course is not only designed
for students who enjoy Performing
Arts and wish to take the subject
alongside a range of other AS
Levels, but also for students
who wish to develop their
communication and creative skills
and are interested in a range
of creative careers as well as
teaching.The Certificate offers an
introduction to the performing
arts vocational sector through
applied learning. For students for
whom an element of performing
arts would be complementary, the
qualification supports progression
to higher education when taken as
part of a programme of study that
includes other vocational or general
qualifications.

Course content

There are 2 units, both mandatory,
of which 1 is externally assessed.
(50%)
The mandatory units are as follows:
1 Investigating Practitioners’ Work (
External)
2 Developing Skills and Techniques
for Live Performance(Internal)

Entry requirements

5 9-4 grades at GCSE,
BTEC Level 2 First Award in
Performing Arts or equivalent
at Merit level

Future opportunities

The Certificate can be studied
alongside other subject areas as a
complementary subject, allowing
the student to apply for a range of
higher education courses.
