Course description

AS Unit 1: Society and Health
In this module you will learn about the social, moral and cultural issues that affect the health of the nation.

AS Unit 2: Resource Management
This module contains both practical and theory elements. You will learn how to make a wide range of dishes that meet the needs of different individuals. You will also study consumer rights; food safety and hygiene and develop an awareness of financial management.

A2 Unit 3: Food, Nutrition and Health
This is a practical coursework unit that requires you to investigate a nutritional context. For example you could develop a range of low cost nutritious food products that would appeal to university students or develop a range of products that would encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables.

A2 Unit 4: Nutrition and Food Production
This involves the details study of the nutrients and properties of food. You will also study how food products are developed and manufactured.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE’s at C grade or above, however, prior knowledge of the subject is required, though a GCSE in a Food related subject.
