Art and design *FEES PAYABLE* at Sackville School

Course description

Art AS/A2 level follows naturally from GCSE and is designed to
ensure that practical, artistic skills and abilities are developed.
In addition to making artefacts, students will be encouraged to
reflect on their own work and on the work of others. Those who
study art and design may
- undertake further studies in art and design
- study subjects or take up careers for which an art and
design background is relevant
- have an interest in and aptitude for the subject but are
not intending to study it beyond A level.
What do I study?
AS fine art (drawing and painting)
The fine art discipline will demonstrate the use of formal elements and creative skills. These
disciplines will include painting and drawing, printing, sculpture and alternative media. Students
will be required to work in 1 or more of these disciplines.
Unit 1 thematic enquiry 60% AS, 30% A2 Unit 2 externally set exam 40% AS, 20% A2
A2 fine art (drawing and painting)
Unit 3 practical and personal study 30% A2
Unit 4 externally set exam 20% A2

Entry requirements

GCSE grade B/C or above in art and design. English grade B or above especially if going onto A2
