Hair & Media Make-Up Level 2 Diploma at West Herts College

Course description

This varied course will open your eyes to a world of creative career opportunities. Throughout this course you will develop new skills and explore different styles, helping to prepare you for a career in a varied and challenging industry.

Course content

Work alongside professional tutors, learning techniques using the best products in our professional salons.

Get inspired by visits to events including the National Beauty Exhibition. Team up with students across the College to showcase your work at events and competitions.

Subject areas will include:

  • The art of photographic make-up

  • Body art design

  • Make-up application

  • Themed face painting

  • Nail art application

  • The art of dressing hair

  • Application of skin tanning techniques

  • Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp

Alongside your course you’ll study practical English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop skills and confidence.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs (A*–D) preferably in English, maths and science or successful completion of a Hair or Beauty Level 1 programme, plus interview.

Future opportunities

Start work in a junior position or progress your studies with the Level 3 programmes in Make-up Artistry or Level 2 Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy.
