DESCRIPTION OF COURSE The course is delivered through seven units: External Environment and Business: types of business activity, organisations and the changing business environment. Business Structure, Organisation and Control: ownership and internal organisation, financing business activity. Business Behaviour: marketing, production, financial information and decision-making. People in Organisations: human needs and rewards, management and recruitment, training and staff development. Aiding and Controlling Business Activity: influences on business activity. Business Communication and Marketing: types of communication, barriers to effective communication, developments in business communication, ICT developments, the impact of e-commerce in a business activity, marketing and the business environment, developments and constraints of marketing. Coursework: One assignment of approximately 2500 words based on the marketing module, investigation the marketing of a product or service chosen by the candidate.

Assessment

ASSESSMENTPaper 1: Common core paper. This consists of 5 questions based on brief business scenarios. 1 hour 45 minutes – 50% Paper 2: An option paper based on Business Communication and Marketing. 1 hour – 25% Coursework Assignment: One assignment of approximately 2500 words based on the marketing module – 25%
