English Literature This is also a unitised course. AQA 4710 There are 3 units Unit 1 : Exploring Modern Texts. This is assessed by an external exam with two sections and accounts for 40% of the total GCSE marks. Section A: Modern Prose or Drama text. You will answer one question on the modern text you have studied with your teacher. (20%) Section B: Exploring Cultures. You will have a two part question on the set text you have studied. (20%) Unit 2: Poetry Across Time. This is also an exam with two sections and accounts for 35% of the total marks. Section A: The Anthology Poetry Cluster. You will answer one question from the cluster of poems you will have studied in “The Anthology” (23%) Section B: Unseen Poem. You will be asked to respond to an unseen poem (12%) Unit 3: The Significance of Shakespeare and the English Literary Heritage This is a controlled assessment unit worth 25% of the total marks. To prepare for this, you will study a play by Shakespeare and a text from the English Literary Heritage chosen by your teacher. The study will involve multi-modal versions of the texts. The task will ask you to make links between these two texts.
